Emergency Dental Services Winnipeg

Emergency dental services may be necessary as situations can be very painful and uncomfortable making it difficult to enjoy life in Winnipeg.  Our clinic in St. Boniface is here to service patient needs in our community and extend our dental emergency care to anyone working in the area.  Our emergency dentists understand how debilitating tooth pain can be, making it difficult to do anything.  This is why we do our best to accommodate any dental emergency services to provide our Winnipeg patients fast relief.

It’s important that you act quickly in the case of an oral health emergency.  Urgency in some cases can be the difference in saving a tooth or limiting the amount of pain you may experience with your teeth.  Often emergency dental situations leave you no choice but to act quickly because of pain or bleeding, but sometimes there are factors that you feel you can live with even though they are causing you discomfort when you chew.  Your teeth are a very important part of your overall health, so don’t wait till something that is nagging you becomes unbearable and requires emergency dental care.  We know life can be busy and its not always convenient to set aside time to see a dentist for services, but your teeth will thank you for acting fast, avoiding anything that could develop into a long-term issue or extreme tooth pain.

We offer convenient hours and parking, and can normally schedule a dental appointment in quick fashion for a dental problem that needs urgent attention.

If you’re in extreme pain, or if your mouth won’t stop bleeding, we recommend coming to see one of our emergency dentists as soon as you are able. Our emergency dental services provide Winnipeg patients relief from dental pain.  At Tache Dental Centre, we treat many different types of dental emergencies, including:

  • Toothaches
To relieve urgent toothache pain, you can take an over-the-counter pain medicine that works for you to reduce pain, but do not put the pills on your sore tooth. Hold an ice pack against your face at the spot of the sore tooth, but don’t put a heating pad or any other source of heat on your jaw.
  • Knocked out tooth
Adult (or permanent) teeth can be put back without serious issue, but you must treat this as a dental emergency and act fast. If the tooth is put back in place within 10 minutes it has a higher chance of taking root again, but after 2 hours, the chances are very poor. Call our emergency dentist in St. Boniface as soon as the tooth falls out. On your way to your appointment, you can put the tooth back in its socket if it’s clean. If this is not possible because your mouth is swollen, put it in a container of cold milk.
  • Chipped or broken teeth
Broken teeth can almost always be saved if treated as an emergency. If you have a small break, a white filling can be used to fix the tooth. If the break is serious, a root canal or dental crown may be necessary. Call our clinic to explain what happened and we will see you promptly.
  • Something stuck between teeth
Before calling your dentist, try gently using dental floss to remove the object. Never poke between your teeth with a pin or a sharp, pointy object as it can cut your gums or scratch the tooth surface. If you can’t get the object out with floss, call us to schedule an appointment with one of our dental care specialists.
  • Lost filling
To temporarily protect your tooth, put a piece of softened sugarless chewing gum in the spot where the filling was lost. Because this can be very painful, call your emergency dentist as soon as you can for an appointment to replace the filling.
  • Badly bitten lip or tongue
If there is bleeding, use a clean cloth to put pressure on the part of the mouth that is bleeding. If your lip is swollen, use an ice pack to keep the swelling down. If the bleeding does not stop, seek urgent care and go to a hospital right away.
